This has been an awful week, for reasons I won’t dwell on. But as is often the case, I attempted to wrest control over my life by relaxing with my trains this weekend. And, as is increasingly the case, this attempt led me only to frustration.
Before me are four models that have issues. (My weekend began with only two such models. The list grew as the weekend drew on.) My Kato キハ110 has run a little rough since I first installed a decoder into it; My attempts at smoothing out this roughness this were for naught. My Tomix 209-0 series has also been running roughly lately. My attempts at smoothing out this roughness led only to a non-running train, and I can’t figure out why. I’ve narrowed it down to this, at least: somehow power is not getting from the trucks to the motor. I spent hours on this one train, trying to fix it. My Tomix EF81 has been an ongoing struggle to convert to DCC. This time, the decoder has an internal short that I may or may not have caused. I can’t tell, and now I have to send it off for replacement; that is dead decoder no. 3 or 4 for this project. Finally, my Kato E231-500, my first model train and a fine runner since I bought it, is beginning to bind. I haven’t pulled it apart to find out why yet.
So much for trying to exert a little control over my life. Maybe next weekend. Maybe.
Sorry to hear that buddy! And I know…this can be a cruel hobby at times (my goodness, if someone with your abilities has these sort of challenges with decoders and so on….it frankly scares the heck out of me!
)! Well, last week is in the past now….
You are too kind, really. Thanks for the words of encouragement.
You’ve got all my support Don. Hopefully you will soon have a nice Fresh Hitachi to cheer you up. ^^
Thanks as well, disturbman. I do now have it, and it is very nice indeed
I think I spent more time this weekend playing with my new Tomytec モ1031 though!
