Up from the inky depths of the basement comes Shōgatsu, my family’s Christmas New Year’s layout! In the intervening months, we’ve collected a couple of TomyTec buildings. I’ve also managed to assemble and decal the various little festival stalls we bought last year. Finally, we’ve added a new train from the TomyTec collection, modeled loosely on this prototype.
Still a lot of foliage to add! Forests will spring from these barren mountainsides, dammit. The village desperately needs pavement. And I have to finish the path up to the temple. But these are modest goals, and can be completed in small chunks. More photos to come as the layout unfolds!

Woohoo! Good to see the layout come back out! Wow! I can’t believe its been a year since I started reading your blog! I’m looking forward to seeing how far you progress this year!
Also, are you integrating your Akihabara station diorama into your layout, or is that a separate diorama?
Thanks! No, Akihabara Station is a totally separate entity; there’s no way it would fit on my desk at the same time as Shogatsu, as they are both nearly the same length!
