New Blog: Railstars

I’ve decided to try to segregate my posts into two categories: Model railroading posts of interest to a general audience, and posts about electronics of interest to a more restricted audience. To this end, I introduce Railstars, my new blog about model railroad and general electronics. I’ll still cover my DCC installs here, but I’ll leave the more esoteric realms of, e.g. DCC booster design, to the new blog. Enjoy!

  • Don, seems like a good idea! I only WISH I had more aptitude for electronics! So while I find the benefits of what you are working on in that area enticing, I get lost in all the electronics! Glad to see you’ll keep updating AS with a ‘dumbed down’ version for folks like me! Will your increasing focus on electronics take away from some of your other modeling though? I’m really interested with where you were going with your Akihabara station model/module and haven’t seen an update on that in a long time!

  • And by the way….GREAT NAME for the new blog! I love it!

  • Thanks, Quinntopia. The name is, as you well know, a play on the “Hikari Railstar” bullet train service in Japan. I worried that this blog was getting bogged down in electronic details that most modelers aren’t interested in, and I thought perhaps I should keep them separate. Not a “dumbing down”: Just different topics for different interests.

I have been remiss in my modeling, though, which is why I signed up for the Project Party at jnsforum.com. I’ve just put the finishing touches on a new circuit, and so I plan on setting electronics aside for a little bit to focus on actual modeling again! Really, I just haven’t had very much free time lately, but I’m hoping that will ease up a little bit for a couple of months at least.

  • BTW, anyone want to design me a logo for the new blog? :D
