I’ve not been around here much lately, have I? Truth be told, I haven’t been doing much modeling. It’s a little sad, in fact. We didn’t even break out Shōgatsu for the New Year’s. That’s also a little sad. The simple truth is that we’ve had our hands full around here. I’m trying to [...] I’ve decided to try to segregate my posts into two categories: Model railroading posts of interest to a general audience, and posts about electronics of interest to a more restricted audience. To this end, I introduce Railstars, my new blog about model railroad and general electronics. I’ll still cover my DCC installs here, but [...] It is springtime! Six weeks distance has helped me a lot. I intend to resume blogging within the next few days. I’ve reopened comments site-wide. Thanks for bearing with me! I’m taking a hiatus from this site for a while, perhaps a few months. I’ll return maybe during the summer time. Thanks to my [...] I’ve heard from a few people now that they like my wishlist if only because it has a small list of places to buy Japanese model trains. With these comments as inspiration, I have created a dedicated page (linked to in the menu up above) to indexing all the sources I have found. Right [...] The year—indeed, the decade—is hours away from being over. Time for a year-end retrospective in numbers. I’ll try to be concise. Figure 1: Views per Month 2009: What happened!? Figure 1 reveals something of a roller-coaster of readership. Looks like we just returned to the station, too. Views were down in July because [...] Vacation is over, and it’s back to work—and back to blogging. Update 28 May: Things are mostly back to normal now. I even managed to recover most comments (not all—not mine). Only three images lost to the ether, too. Now I have a rather rigorous backup process in place, too. So, yay for that. Update 26 May: Please stand by while I delete everything else! [...] Update: Something about the latest version broke things, so I have diactivated the translation plugin for now. Readers may have noticed that I have added an easy automatic translation feature on the sidebar to the right—just click on a flag, and wait a few moments as the translation is made on the fly. The [...] It’s the new year, and just a little late for some last-minute year-in-review retrospection. This last year was the first full calendar year of operation for Akihabara Station, and it saw this blog shoot from just my personal site that no-one read to a very narrow niche blog that attracts a small number of visitors a month, mostly from Google. In December alone, the site received over 630 pageviews. In all, this year brought the site 1,676 visits and 3,112 pageviews total. Here are a couple of the obligatory top-ten lists. As a graduate student and teaching assistant, the end of the semester is always the busiest time of year. I’ve been grading essays and exams all week, and I still have a huge stack that has to be completed by Monday. Then the wife, baby, and I hit the road for Winter Break Family [...] |
